No one is immune to stress. Some stress could be good stimulation for our lives but too much stress has many negative consequences on our bodies, minds and spirits. Stress is the cause of many ailments and diseases. One of the most important things in our lives is how you manage your ‘stress’.

How to release stress

1. Stop doing what you don’t like.  Leave the situation that gives you so much stress.

This is a very difficult thing to do. You may say ‘Life would be much easier if I could just do that!’ Please remember ‘Nothing is more important for you than your happiness’.  Good luck with this and try your best!

2. do what you like, pamper yourself.

Listening to your favorite music, drink your favorite beverage, go to your favorite restaurants, meet with the people that bring you joy … do what makes you happy!  It’s good to think about what you like and write these things down. It’ll make you feel good already.

3. sleep a lot

How long do you sleep each night? The proper amount of sleep is 8 hours. Not many people sleep that long though. Sleeping is very important. If you can sleep 8 hours everyday, it will definitely help you feel less stressed.

4. relax

Do nothing! Take a bath, enjoy the scent of a nice aromatherapy oil, sit in the sun!  You’re guaranteed to feel relaxed!

5. have some quiet time and breathe deeply

If you do meditation, it will help you release stress. If you don’t, just sit quietly with your eyes closed and breathe deeply and slowly for a little while. You’ll be surprised how you feel calm and relaxed.

6. go to nature

Nature is the best healer. Luckily, PEI is blessed with an abundance of beautiful nature. It’s easy for us to go to nature. So remember to take some time to enjoy the nature that is all around us.

7. exercise

If you enjoy sports, you should play several times a week. If you don’t, walking is good!  Walking is easy and very good for your body and your mind.

8. have a massage

Massage doesn’t only work to relax your body. If you’ve ever had a good massage, you understand how relaxing it is for your mind and soul as well. If you have a lot of stress, a head massage or foot massage (reflexology) are especially good.  Trust me, I know!
